Tokyo, November 17th, 2025 – In 2019, ZENITH launched a watch nearly five decades in the making: the CHRONOMASTER A384 “Lupin The 3rd”. Inspired by the timepiece worn by Daisuke Jigen, Lupin’s trusted partner in the celebrated Japanese anime series, it marked the beginning of a trilogy of highly sought-after limited editions. Today, ZENITH is proud to present the fourth chapter in this saga: the CHRONOMASTER Revival Daisuke Jigen Edition. Even closer to the watch portrayed in the manga, this latest creation comes in a matte black microblasted titanium case.
In 1969, ZENITH launched the groundbreaking El Primero calibre, along with the first watch to house it, the A384. Just two years later, in 1971, the first anime adaptation of the hit manga Lupin The 3rd debuted in Japan. It quickly became a cultural phenomenon at home and, in time, around the world. Among its colorful cast, the stylish sharpshooter Daisuke Jigen, Lupin’s trusted partner, was depicted wearing a ZENITH watch on two occasions. The timepiece, clearly inspired by the A384, was a creation of the animators: it never actually existed. Interestingly, it appeared first with a black dial, and later with a silver one.
Decades later, ZENITH transformed this piece of fiction into reality with three limited editions paying tribute to Jigen’s anime wristwatch. The first, released in 2019, was a steel model limited to 50 pieces, featuring a black dial with gilt accents. A unique piece was also auctioned by Phillips, true to the anime depiction, with smaller markers and a subtly altered ZENITH logo, echoing the original animation. In 2020, the second edition followed: a 200-piece steel chronograph with a “panda” dial, pairing a white background with black counters. Finally, in 2021, ZENITH unveiled the third tribute, a 250-piece edition that fused both designs into a single asymmetrical dial, uniting the black and silver variations in one bold creation.
The CHRONOMASTER Revival Daisuke Jigen Edition takes this tribute one step further. Crafted in 37mm matte black microblasted titanium, the case highlights the dark grey nuances of this lightweight yet durable metal through a uniform matte finish. Its beige-colored dial features contrasting black chronograph counters and a tachymeter scale. Hands and applied markers are filled with beige Super-LumiNova®, lending the watch a warm, vintage-inspired character.
At its heart beats the El Primero 400 calibre, a direct descendant of the legendary 1969 movement. Entirely developed and manufactured in-house, it operates at 5 Hz (36,000 VpH), delivering tenth-of-a-second precision and a power reserve of 50 hours. Comprising over 300 components, its intricacies and refined finishes can be admired through the sapphire case back, emblazoned with the unmistakable silhouette of Daisuke Jigen.
The CHRONOMASTER Revival Daisuke Jigen Edition is paired with the iconic ladder bracelet, originally designed by the revered Gay Frères company in 1969 exclusively for ZENITH. Paired with some of the earliest El Primero models such as the A384, A385 and A386, the ladder bracelet, with its alternating open central links, was celebrated for its lightness and comfort. For this new edition, it has been reinterpreted in matte-finished titanium, offering both heritage and modern ergonomics.
Released in a limited edition of 200 pieces, the CHRONOMASTER Revival Daisuke Jigen Edition will debut exclusively at the ZENITH pop-up at ISETAN Shinjuku from November 19th. It will then be available worldwide from November 26th in ZENITH boutiques, on the brand’s online platform, and through select authorized retailers.
